'Krazy Krinkle' leafs out in the early spring as a bright chartreuse with a bright purple border. By late spring the purple border has faded, but the unique texture of the chartreuse leaves remain. This vigorous upright Japanese maple has twisted leaves that are rigid and "Krinkle", almost like that of 'Shishigashira'. This selection is much more vigorous and narrower in habit. 'Krazy Krinkle' will reach 12-15 ft in height in about 15 years. Fall colors are bright golden oranges to reds.Ā
'Krazy Krinkle' is an introduction by Talon Buchholz, originally and rightfully named 'Kinky Krinkle' after one his workers. I received this cultivar under the name 'Krazy Krinkle'. Keep which ever name you want as I have confirmed with Talon that the two are synonymous.
