'Red Bird' is a red Japanese maple with an upright habit, but a less spreading habit than other red matsumurae Japanese maples. This upright narrow form along with sharply divided foliage is where 'Red Bird' gets its name. Fall color ranges from crimson red to scarlet red. 'Red Bird' may reach 8-10 ft in height by 4-5 ft in width in 10 years.
