This Chinese specimen was collected by Anthony Aiello in the Quinling Mountains during the 1996 Expedetion to Shaanxi and Gansu. To join this expedition with Acer oliverianum click here and go to pages 240-245.

Known as Oliver's maple, this maple leafs out in the early spring as a kelly green which it stays nearly all summer. This species is extremely heat tolerant. Large specimens are noted in arboretums all across the Southern United States. This mid-sized maple can handle full sun in the deep south without leaf scortch. Young trees are very vigorous reaching 18ft in 25 years. Fall colors are brilliant shades of golden yellow to radiant orange. This specimen is grafted onto Acer palmatum.
