Aocha nishiki is a beautiful green Japanese maple that leafs out with bright chartreuse green new growth with a red border which matures to a rich green. Summer flushes of new growth are chartreuse green as well. “Aocha” translates as a yellow-green color. “Nishiki” can often refer to having variegation. Every once in a while you might spot yellow speckled variegation show up on new growth of mature specimens of this Japanese maple but the primary feature is the red tipping on the new growth. For us, the beauty in this Japanese maple is the brilliant orange fall color. We highly recommend using this Japanese maple for fall color planting. Aocha nishiki  will reach 8ft in height and width in 15 years.
