'Clarabell' is a relatively new cultivar that is quickly becoming one of our favorites.
'Clarabell' puts on a vibrant show of color in the spring. 'Clarabell' has some of the brightest leaves of orange colors infused with yellows. By midsummer, the leaves mature to a solid green. Fall colors are oranges to reds. We predict that 'Clarabell' may reach about 10 ft in 15 years. One might assume this Japanese maple got its name from the clown "Clarabell" on the classic Howdy Doody TV show who wore a tufted orange-yellow neck scarf similar to the color of this Japanese maple.
