Acer palmatum 'Elwha’ is a rare dwarf spreading green matsumurae by our friend, Bart Eykemans. He is the same maple expert that selected 'Marielle'. He has quite the eye for trees. 'Elwha', named after the Elwha River may reach 3-4 ft in height by 5 ft in width in 10 years. For those maple collectors who are familiar with 'Sherwood Elfin', think of a green version of that with great calico-like fall color. Another way to look at it is like a dwarf 'Elegans'.
