Acer palmatum 'Fairy Hair' Rare Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum 'Fairy Hair'

Rare Japanese Maple

Zones 5-9

'Fairy Hair’ is perhaps the most finely textured Japanese maple of them all. The long green threads are so thin that look like hair. ‘Fairy Hair’ was found by Talon Buchholz as a chance seedling from ‘Scolopendrifolium’. It and ‘Red Cloud’ were sister seedlings and together are some of Talon Buchholz first Japanese maple introductions. For us, in Western North Carolina, ‘Fairy Hair’ has been more temperamental at times. We have learned that it requires excellent drainage, and you need to avoid overwatering. For Talon in Gaston, Oregon he states that ‘Fairy Hair’ is especially hardy and resilient. Fall color is a bright fiery red. ‘Fairy Hair’ may reach 4-6 ft in height in 10 years.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
