'Firecracker'Ā is a selection of laceleaf Japanese maple that is a fairly fast grower. The habit is arching upward and outward, eventually cascading down in a "firecracker-like" fashion. 'Firecracker' is a bright ruby red in the spring, turning to burgundy maroon by late spring. In the south, it does tend to turn green-red in the summer. Fall color is a bright scarlet red. 'Firecracker' may reach 5-6 ft in height by 6-7 ft in width in 10 years. This patented selection by Esveld Nursery in Holland puts on quite a show.
