Acer palmatum 'Holy Sister Lucia' Japanese Maple
ACER PALMATUM 'HOLY SISTER LUCIA'
Rare Dwarf Japanese Maple
Zones 5-9
'Holy Sister Lucia' is a dwarf red Japanese maple with a tight habit reaching 6-7 ft in height by 5-6 ft in width in 10 years. The neat thing about this red Japanese maple in the green stemming and the bright green cast that shows up on the red leaves of this unique Japanese maple. Fall color on 'Holy Sister Lucia' is a bright yellow.Â
'Holy Sister Lucia' was found by our good friend Bob McCaffrey at Mount Hope Cemetery near Ardsley, NY. Bob calls what is often called a "witches broom" a "blessing from God", which I totally agree with. By having this dwarf mutation happen on a plant, we can graft it and have a smaller and often more attractive version of the original Japanese maple. This might just be why he is so blessed in finding so many of these dwarf creations. 'Holy Sister Lucia' was named after LĂșcia de Jesus Rosa dos Santos of Portugal.Â
Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
