'Italy Red' is an introduction from Fratelli Gilardelli Nursery in Milan, Italy. 'Italy Red' may reach 8-10 ft in 15 years in an upright fashion. The bright red leaves show off better on this tree than most Japanese maples, giving a glowing aspect to the leaves from underneath. This shows off extremely well in the morning or afternoon sun as the light highlights the orange-red hue on the leaves. Fall color is a bright crimson red.
