'Mikawa x Sharps' is a neat newer selection by Crispin Silva. While this selection is not likely a true cross between 'Mikawa yatsubusa' and 'Sharp's Pygmy', one could see that this Japanese maple gives a 'Mikawa-like' appearance with a little 'Sharp's Pygmy' flare. 'Mikawa x Sharps' has a tightly layering habit, but with more divided and pointed foliage that is smaller than your typical "Mikawa Family" variant. In the early spring 'Mikawa x Sharps' has a nice bronze hue to the leaves, turning to green by late spring. 'Mikawa x Sharps' may reach 3 ft in height and width in 10 years. A great choice for smaller spaces, 'Mikawa x Sharps' is both low maintenance and slow growing, making it easy to keep this dwarf Japanese maple in its place. Additionally, its unusual foliage adds a unique touch of beauty to your landscaping.
