Acer palmatum 'Musashino' is a deep red Japanese maple that is strongly upright with a rounded crown. ‘Musashino’ is a classic maple selection from Japan, listed on some of the earliest listings of Japanese maples. ‘Musashino’ displays a rich deep purple-red color that makes this cultivar famous. The underside of the leaves are purple-red with strong green undertones. In the fall, the leaves on ‘Musashino’ can a take on brilliant crimson color. 'Musashino’ makes a nice midsize to large upright Japanese maple reach 10-12 ft in height and width in 10 years.
