Acer palmatum Red Panda™ is a compact dwarf selection in the Mikawa Family Collection. Red Panda™ has the tight layering habit similar to 'Mikawa yatsubusa' but with a bright orange-red spring color that holds longer than other colorful Mikawa-types. For us in WNC, we have had color in late spring to early summer. Secondary flushes on Red Panda™ during the summer has orange-red new growth. Red Panda™ may reach 3-4 ft in height and width in 10 years. Fall color on Red Panda™ is a bright fiery red.
