Found in the 1980's by Jim Sharp, this dwarf Japanese maple selection is ideal for containers, small spaces, bonsai, rock gardens, and conifer beds. It leafs out as a rich green with a deeply divided leaf that is heavily ridged on the sides each lobe with sharp points on the end of each lobe. 

Along with the thick trunk of this dwarf Japanese maple selection, the leaf structure and dense branching habit gives 'Sharp's Pygmy' a sturdy and dignified appearance. Fall colors are bright oranges to reds. It will reach 5-6 ft in 15 years by 5-6 ft wide. 'Sharp's Pygmy' is the perfect miniature for your yard.
