Acer pensylvanicum

Native Snakebark Maple

Zones 3-9

Ā

ForĀ all those native species lovers, here is one for you. This is our native snakebark maple in the Eastern United States. Acer pensylvanicum can be found at high elevations from the eastern part of Canada to Georgia. Like most snakebarks, it grows as an understory tree in most locations preferring to grow on slopes with well-drained soil. The term snakebark is given to the beautiful trees in section Macrantha that have striations in bark that give the appearance of a snake's skin. This maple is commonly known as the striped maple, the moose maple, and the moosewood maple. In ideal conditions Acer pensylvanicum may reach 15-20 ft in height in 10 years.

Limited Quantities Available !!Ā As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
