Hot Wings™ is an excellent new form of Tatarian Maple. The Tatarian maple is extremely cold tolerant and also tolerant of more alkaline soils. It also can grow up to 7,500 ft in elevation. Where Hot Wings™ is different is that is has a better- rounded habit, better fall color, and superb longer lasting red color on the wings of the samaras (seeds). Hot Wings™ starts out in the spring with green leaves and small clusters of white flowers. These flowers develop into the red seeds that gives Hot Wings™ its name. In the fall, Hot Wings™ turns to oranges, reds, and yellows all at the same time, creating a display that you will enjoy in your garden. Hot Wings™ may reach 15-18 ft in height with a nice, rounded habit in 10 years.
