Azalea 'Koromo shikibu’ Kurume Purple Spider Azalea

Azalea 'Koromo shibiku' Purple Spider Blooming Azalea

Evergreen Azalea -

Kurume / R. macrosepalum Hybrid

Zones 6-9

'Koromo shikibu’ is quite a unique azalea. The purple-lavender blooms are spider-like, hence the spider azalea name. The blooms are long and thin and since these feather-like blooms are often clustered together, this untraditional plant makes it hard to tell where one bloom ends and another begins. This creates an amazing display that is sure to grab everyone’s attention and become a talking point in your garden. ‘Koromo shikibu’ may reach 3-4 ft in height by 4-5 ft in width in 10 years with an overall upright habit. ‘Koromo shikibu’ is sometimes listed as a Kurume hybrid, however, it is likely a rhododendron macrosepalum hybrid. In 2015 ‘Koromo shikibu’ was given the Rhododendron of the Year by the American Rhododendron Society.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of Japanese maples, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the Japanese maples you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
