'Lemon Drop', also known as "Weston's Lemon Drop", is a selection of Rhododendron viscosum, the native swamp azalea. What makes 'Lemon Drop' special is that this selection has peach colored buds that open up to golden yellow blooms. This is quite different from the white to blooms that is typical of the species. Like the species, however, 'Lemon Drop' has a nice sweet fragrance when blooming. 'Lemon Drop' may reach 6 ft in height by 4 ft in width in 10 years. Make sure to give 'Lemon Drop' good drainage and plenty of organic matter when planting.
