Azalea 'Mooshatanio’ Orange Native Azalea
Rhododendron x
'Mooshatanio'
Orange Blooms
Deciduous Native Azalea x Exbury Azalea
Zones 5b-9
‘Mooshatanio’ is bright orange native azalea hybrid that is exceptionally heat and humidity tolerant, fairly fragrant, a vigorous grower, has a large bloom set, and is an overall great plant for the landscape and garden. ‘Mooshatanio’ may reach 6-8 ft in height by 5 ft in width in 10 years. ‘Mooshatanio' is a beautiful native azalea, named after a classic Jimmy Driftwood song. In this classic song, the European settler singer has a child with daughter of chief. Oddly enough this ‘Mooshatanio’ is hybrid between an azalea from the Exbury azalea group that originated in Europe and a native Rhododendron austrinum. Make sure to give ‘Mooshatanio’ good drainage and plenty of organic matter when planting.
