'Norma Strickland' is a hybrid selection by the famous Kelly Strickland, named after his wife, Norma Strickland. Mr. Strickland hybridizes Rhododendron 'Coccinea Speciosa' and 'Strickland's 167-North'(Rhododendron austrinum). The result is a hybrid that is vigorous, cold tolerant, easy to grow, and beautiful. The blooms begin blooming as more orange fading to yellow with highlights of peach. 'Norma Strickland' may reach 6-8 ft in height by 4 ft in width in 10 years. Make sure to give 'Norma Strickland' good drainage and plenty of organic matter when planting.
