‘Sunglow’ is a newer Carla Hybrid. Carla is a combination of Carolina and Louisiana. The Carla hybrids are heat tolerant, root rot resistant, drought tolerant, humidity resistant, and cold tolerant. They are hybrids with Satsuki azaleas, Kurume azaleas, and Belgian hybrids. ‘Sunglow’ is quite unique as it displays pure bright red 3 inch blooms. ‘Sunglow’ is noted for being hardy and easy to grow. ‘Sunglow’ may reach 5 ft in height and width in 10 years.
