Cercis canadensis ‘Merlot’ Red Leaf Redbud Tree

Cercis canadensis x 'Merlot'
Red Leaf Redbud Tree

Zones 6-9

*SHIPS IN 3 GALLON GROW BAG*

In the spring pink purple blooms come out on the branches of ‘Merlot’ as a harbinger that spring is coming. Large glossy heart shaped purple maroon leaves follow shortly afterwards. ‘Merlot’ creates a nice vase shape reaching 9-12 ft in height by 15 ft wide in 10 years. 'Merlot’ is a beautiful Cercis canadensis var. texensis hybrid with ‘Forest Pansy’ that was developed by our friend Dr. Dennis Werner of NC State University. The result was a purple foliage redbud that has glossy leaves and is fairly heat and drought tolerant.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of woody ornamentals, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the woody ornamentals you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
