Cornus kousa Scarlet Fire™ is deep fuchsia flowering Chinese dogwood selection from Rutgers University. The pink-red bracts on the flowers, like most from the Rutgers hybrids, are huge making the overall bloom especially large. This creates a pink glowing effect against the dark green leaves that can be seen from a distance. After the blooms, fruit develop and become more vibrant red as fall approaches. Scarlet Fire™ is mildew and disease resistant, fairly vigorous, and easy to grow. Scarlet Fire™ may reach 8-10 ft in height in 10 years.
