'Variegatus’ is a beautiful five-leaf aralia with yellow to creamy white margined variegation on each leaf. ‘Variegatus’ is extremely hardy and can even handle dry shade. This makes ‘Variegatus’ a great plant to brighten up shadier spots in the garden with its brightly variegated leaves. Being an aralia, ‘Variegatus’ does have thorns which makes it a great border planting. ‘Variegatus’ may be hedged back into a shrub, but may reach 6 ft in height in 10 years.
