'Brathay Purple' is a rare European Beech tree. It has a nice purple red spring color and a leaf structure similar to ‘Cristata’. The color tends to fade to green by late summer in the Southern United States. The small irregular leaves are tight and compact creating a unique look on ‘Brathay Purple’. ‘Brathay Purple’ has a nice vase shape reaching about 15 ft in 10 years. ‘Brathay Purple’ gets its name from a small town in Northern England.
