'Purple Fountain' is an excellent narrow growing Purple European Beech that has a weeping habit but develops a central leader on its own. 'Purple Fountain' was introduced in 1975 by Dutch nursery of F.J. Grootendorst & Sons who found it as a chance seeding from 'Purpurea Pendula' that had a narrower habit and a strong central leader. 'Purple Fountain' may reach 15 ft in height by 8 ft wide in 10 years.
