'Purpurea Nana' is a dwarf European beech selection with a dark red color. 'Purpurea Nana' may reach 3-4 ft in height in 10 years. According to my good friend Robert Fincham’s book, Fagus sylvatica and a Few English ‘Quercus’, ‘Purpurea Nana’ holds its color well throughout the summer in the Pacific Northwest.
