'Murasaki-no-sato' is a gorgeous illicium. The deep burgundy glossy flush of growth is quite attractive overtop of the lower green foliage. It is said that the name 'Murasaki-no-sato' translates as “Purple Village”.  This newer selection of Japanese anise was brought over from Gifu, Japan, by our good friend, Ted Stephens. ‘Murasaki-no-sato’ has a more conical habit reaching 6-8 ft in height by 5 ft in width in 10 years.
