Morus alba 'Ito' Nuclear Blast Dwarf White Mulberry

Morus alba 'Ito' Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast Dwarf White Mulberry

Zones 4-9

Part Shade to Full Sun

Also known as 'Nuclear Blast', 'Ito' has a whispy mutated and contorted appearance in leaf shape and structure. The thin green leaves are thread-like giving this unique mulberry an open appearance. 'Nuclear Blast' was given this name because this mutated appearance just described, looks to that of a White Mulberry that survived a nuclear blast of radiation. 'Ito' can reach 6ft in height in 10 years. Fall colors are bright golden yellows. For those who want a unique oddity in their garden, 'Ito' is sure to be that conversation piece. According to our good friend, Barry Yinger, "Ito" is Japanese for "thread".

The term "kuwa, sometimes misspelled "guwa" means mulberry. While this conrtorted mulberry has been known under the name "Itoguwa",  "Ito" is actually the correct name as the species name should not be in the cultivar name.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of woody ornamentals, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy woody ornamental you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
