Nyssa sylvatica 'Zydeco Twist' Contorted Black Gum

Nyssa sylvatica 'Zydeco Twist'

Contorted American Black Gum Tree

Zones 4-9

Part Sun-Full Sun

Nyssa sylvatica 'Zydeco Twist' has a special contorted and twisting habit that makes for a unique and beautiful tree in the garden. 'Zydeco Twist' may reach 10-15 ft in height and width in 20 years. Fall color is a bright red to deep maroon.

‘Zydeco Twist’ is believed to have been found as a chance seedling at Rick Webb’s nursery, becoming an unusual spectacle traded among famous southern nurserymen and women like Sherwood Akin, Don Shadow, and Margie Jenkins. In the early 2000’s, Todd Lasseigne named it ‘Zydeco Twist’ to reflect its Cajun history and this tree’s intriguing contorting habit.

Limited Quantities Available !! As we have over a thousand cultivars of woody ornamentals, we often do not have many of each cultivar. We recommend that you buy the woody ornamentals you want immediately as we often sell out of certain selections.
