'Kansas' is a unique double blooming peony with carmine red flowers in early-to-mid spring. This red can really get to a lavender shade of red that is quite attractive. Bred by Myron Bigger in the 1940's, this peony has won the Gold Medal by the American Peony Society and is still one of the standards for double red peonies today. ‘Kansas’ may reach 3 ft in height each year.
