'Instar’ is an extremely rare conifer. The upright habit is quite unique. The overall narrow habit stands out due to the irregular weeping side branches. This creates an ideal specimen to add a unique evergreen interest in the landscape. ‘Instar’ may reach about 6 ft in height by 3-4 ft in width in 10 years. This tree enjoys the full sun and is able to withstand a little shade. While ‘Instar’ is listed as Picea orientalis, debate among conifer experts exists over the exact species.
