'Skylands' is a gorgeous golden spruce with a nice tight upright habit. 'Skylands' may reach 12-15 ft in 10 years. It is recommended to give 'Skylands' protection from the hot afternoon sun at an early age while this tree is getting established. Once established 'Skylands' can handle quite a bit of sun. 'Skylands' was found as a chance seedling at the Skylands Estate in Ringwood, NJ. This is now the New Jersey Botanical Gardens, which we were fortunate to visit on the post-tour of the Maple Society Meeting in 2018. The grounds' manager took us over to the original 'Skylands' which stands about 30-35 ft in height in 60-70 years.Ā
