'UConn' is a seedling selection by Dr Sid Waxman from the the University of Conneticut. It was 1 of nearly 200 seedlings from a witches broom. The unique feature of 'UConn' is that was fast growing, but had a dense compact habit without pruning or shaping. This makes 'UConn' excellent for windbreaks, screening out noise and unwanted views, and a pleasant ornamental privacy screen. 'UConn' has a a dense and broad pyramidal form reaching about 10 ft in height and 9 ft in width in 10 years.
