Rhododendron lutescens is a slower growing rhododendron that is found naturally growing in China in the Yunnan and Szechwan regions growing natively at elevations up to 3000 ft.  The dark green leaves tend to point downward. This contrasts so well with the Canary yellow flowers that appear in mid-to-late March.  Rhododendron lutescens may reach 4-5 ft in height and width in 10 years.
