If you love flowering trees with fragrant purple flowers, then this is the plant for you. Flowering a few weeks prior to Syringa vulgarisms, ‘Pocahontas’ attracts bred, butterflies, and hummingbirds to the garden. The long purple to violet profusions of flowers adds a lot to the spring landscape and garden. ‘Pocahontas’ may reach 10-12 ft in height and width in 10 years. It was bred by crossing Syringa olbata ssp. dilatata and Syringa vulgaris by Frank Skinner in Canada.
