The Cercidiphyllum japonicum ‘Heronswood Globe’, or globe Japanese Katsura tree, is a slow-growing, deciduous tree with a naturally compact, globe-shaped habit, typically reaching 6–10 ft tall and wide in 10 years. It features heart-shaped leaves that emerge reddish-purple in spring, turn green in summer, and display brilliant yellow to orange fall color with a sweet, cotton-candy fragrance. This tree prefers full sun to partial shade, and grows best in moist, well-drained soil. Its tidy growth habit makes it ideal as a specimen tree or for small gardens and patios, requiring minimal pruning once established.
