'Hagoromo' is a unique upright Japanese maple that gives the appearance of an upright laceleaf Japanese maple. The green leaves are heavily divided and graceful, almost feather-like. 'Hagoromo' turns to a bright fiery red in the fall. This selection from Japan can be found on records in Japan as early as 1782. 'Hagoromo' may reach 15 ft in height in 15 years. 'Hagoromo' is often referred to in the nursery trade as sessilifolium, but I prefer the tranlation of "hagoromo" which translates as "Angel Feather".
