Acer palmatum 'Tiger Rose' has a spectacular spring display of color. It leafs out in the early spring with a rose blush that quickly fades away, showing the tiger-like variegation of dark green on a yellow-green background while it consistently blooms profusely with small bouquets of red 'roses' decorating nearly every branch. The leaf itself is heavily on the matsumurae side of the spectrum of palmatums making it very unique from other reticulates.

In the autumn, this tree displays beautiful colors of oranges and reds, differentiating itself from many of cream-like ghost series which often turn to shade of golden yellow. It attains a height of 10-12 ft in 20 years making it a perfect size for every garden. 'Tiger Rose' retains this tiger-like reticulated variegation best when given protection from the hot afternoon sun, making it the ideal mid-sized tree for an understory planting.
