'Hasselkus' is a pseudosieboldianum selection hybrid with Acer palmatum that was found and introduced by the great plantsman, Ed Hasselkus. Ed Hasselkus was a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who became famous for his plant selections. 'Hasselkus' brings everything you love about Acer palmatum to colder climates. The fall color of 'Hasselkus' is a bright golden yellow to red. 'Hasselkus' may reach 8-10 ft in height in 10 years growing about 1 ft in height each year. This selection has been trademarked under another name, however, 'Hasselkus' is the correct cultivar name that gives credit to the person who introduced it.
