Reaching 1–3 ft in height and 1–2 ft in width over 10 years, it features drooping branches, densely packed gray-green foliage, and a compact form, making it ideal for bonsai or small gardens. The waxy, glaucous-green leaves are lanceolate to scale-like, and its globose seed cones mature to a shiny purplish-black or bluish-black color in two years, each containing a single seed.
