Picea abies 'Gold Dust' Norway Spruce

Picea abies 'Gold Dust'
Norway Spruce

Zones 3-8

'Gold Dust' is a unique dwarf Norway spruce. It is bicolor being light green "dusted" in a golden yellow. Talon Buchholz was grafting picea abies selections and ran across the original tree in his rootstock. Being smaller in size and not up to his standards for rootstock, he originally threw this tree in the trash. Apparently, the next morning he realized this was something special and dug it out of the trash and started grafting it to other rootstock. The cultivar 'Gold Dust' was born. It's diminutive nature and great color make this tree a unique evergreen conifer for the landscape. According to Talon, the conifer expert Don Howse sings high praises for this unique little tree. 'Gold Dust' may reach 1.5 to 2 ft in height in 10 years.
