Syringa ‘Albert F. Holden’ is a beautiful bicolor lilac selection. The bloom clusters are 8-10 inches in length. Each flower is more purple in the bloom, with more silver to the backside of the flower. This is what creates the overall bicolor effect. ‘Albert F. Holden’ may reach 7-8 ft in height by 7-8 ft in width in 10 years.  ‘Albert F. Holden’ was hybridized and introduced by Father Fiala, a lifelong lilac breeder. ‘Albert F. Holden’ is named after the plant enthusiast who endowed the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, OH.
