Acer circinatum 'Monroe' leafs out in the early spring with a bright chartreuse green lace-type leaf that matures into a light kelly green. It is an upright Japanese maple often multi-branched reminiscent of an Acer japonicum type.  Fall colors of this Japanese maple are a bright golden yellow. For best growing conditions, 'Monroe' prefers protection from the hot afternoon sun. It will reach up to 12 ft in 15 years. 'Monroe' was found in the wild by Dr. Monroe in the Pacific Northwest where vine maples are native. Some believe this to be a hybrid, however only one thing is for sure, this Japanese maple is uniquely beautiful.
