'Beni kumo no su’ is a spectacular small growing red weeping Japanese maple with a finely cut leaf. In the spring ‘Beni kumo no su’ is a bright red, turning a darker maroon for the summer. Fall color on ‘Beni kumo no su’ is a bright scarlet red. This selection is faster growing than other Japanese maples with a similar finely cut thread-like leaf reaching 4 ft in height by 6 ft in width in 10 years. ‘Beni kumo no su’, which translates as “Red Spider’s Web”, was introduced by Del Loucks.
