Akebia quinata 'Variegata' is a variegated selection of Akebia that Ted Stephens brought back from Japan.  The variegation appears to be fairly stable and the vine is slower growing than the species. The creamy white to yellow specking on the green leaves is quite attractive. Pale pink blooms in spring give good contrast to the foliage. Plant Akebia quinata ‘Variegata’ on near fences, trees, arbors, pergolas, or trellises to give this vine something to climb on.
