'Carnival' is a beautiful more well-behaved selection of a variegated peanut butter tree. It’s called peanut butter tree due to the fact that the leaves smell like peanut butter when crushed. ‘Carnival’ has nice heart shaped green leaves that have yellow to creamy white margined variegation. Blooms on ‘Carnival’ are white, maturing to purple-blue berries with red bracts. These blooms are extremely fragrant, smelling like a sweet jasmine. ‘Carnival’ makes a nice tree reaching 10-12 ft in height by 8-10 ft in width in 10 years.
